Antoine Waterkeyn

Antoine Waterkeyn stands for a painting that does not want to be understood as wall furniture or room decoration. His often life-sized paintings, executed with unusual, 1-layer' lacquer paint (unruly to paint with and to look at), fight for an existence as independent, autonomous objects and in this way enter into a dialogue with the viewer, who - as soon as he visits Waterkeyn's exhibition and moves between his paintings placed in space - becomes a character in Waterkeyn's world.
