Choeur de Chambre de Namur
The choir was founded in 1987 at the initiative of the Centre d'art vocal et de musique ancienne of Namur. The ensemble focuses on early music, with special attention to composers from Wallonia and Brussels. They also perform standard works from the choral repertoire, such as Handel's oratorios and the passions of J.S. Bach. Their total repertoire spans from medieval to contemporary music.
In the past, they regularly performed with the baroque orchestra Les Agrémens, which was founded in 1995 for the purpose of providing the choir with instrumental accompaniment. Since 2014, they mainly work together with the Millenium Orchestra. The Argentinian conductor Leonardo García Alarcón has been the choir's chief conductor since 2010, but they also regularly work with guest conductors bith from Belgium and abroad, including Reinoud Van Mechelen, Paul Dombrecht, Philippe Herreweghe, Marc Minkowski, Christophe Rousset and Jordi Savall.
