Paul De Clerck

After studying viola with Schiffer at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, Paul De Clerck continued with Gertler, Giuranna and Vardi. He was a member of the chamber orchestra I Fiamminghi, the Arriaga String Quartet and Brussels String Quartet, solo violist with the Symphony Orchestra of La Monnaie, and has played with Ensemble Modern Frankfurt and ICTUS. He has played as a soloist with conductors including Benzi, Tamayo, Cambreling, Layer, Montgomery, Rundel, Schönwandt, van Immerseel and Octors. Recently, De Clerck has been intensively working on historical performance practice; he plays with Collegium Vocale Gent and in the Bach Academie, and has played solo with Anima Eterna where his partner included Kuijken, Vodenitcharov, Vandaele and Zweistra. De Clerck was co-founder of the EDDING classical quartet. He teaches viola at the Brussels Conservatory and at the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, and gives master classes in and outside of Belgium. As an actor-musician, he has worked with the Needcompany, Dito Dito and Stan theatre companies. De Clerck is a winner of the Belfius Classics Competition.
