Jonas Gedeshi
Jonas Gedeshi was born in Vilvoorde on 8 June 1995. From the age of 6 he has been playing the guitar. After his guitar training at the 'Akademie voor Muzische Kunsten Meise' with Sim van Thienen, he studied guitar with Raphaëlla Smits at the Lemmens Institute from 2013 onwards. Thereby he combined his higher studies with a study in Physics at the KULeuven. For the two studies, he obtained his master's degree in 2019 and 2020 respectively. He obtained several laureate places at different national guitar competitions and received a scholarship for the guitar festival Nürtingen at the "International Youth Guitar Competition Andres Segovia".
During his studies in guitar, he also started his studies in Composition from which he received his bachelor's degree in 2019. He started composing from a young age (12 years old). During his training he took lessons from Piet Swerts, Pieter Schuermans and Luc van Hove. In 2018, he was chosen as one of the winners of the Carano4Children competition around the fables of Leonardo Da Vinci where his work was performed at Bozar.
In addition to his studies, Jonas attended numerous master classes and trainings with numerous musicians such as Eduardo Isaac, Paolo Pegoraro, Benjamin Verdery, Timo Korhonen, Jorge Caballero, Dieter Staelens. He has been singing in the men's ensemble Gospodi (traditional church Slavonic chants) since 2019. Recently, he also follows choral conducting with Koen Vits to further broaden himself as a musician.
In terms of musical style, his preference is for romantic or Romantic-inspired choral music, but also many composers from the twentieth century and also Renaissance music.
