Peter Van Heyghen

Recorder player Peter Van Heyghen has developed into an internationally renowned specialist in the field of performance practice, as well of Renaissance as of baroque music. He is active as a researcher, writer, speaker, and teacher. He performs worldwide as a soloist as well as with his own ensembles More Maiorum and the recorder consort Mezzaluna. He also serves as co-director of the vocal Renaissance ensemble Capella Pratensis.  Since 2004 he has been the permanent conductor and artistic director of the Brussels baroque orchestra Les Muffatti, a genuine asset in the orchestral landscape. Lately Peter Van Heyghen has been applying himself more and more to the baroque opera repertoire. Together with director and choreographer Sigrid T’Hooft he has been leading an opera workshop at the Händel Akademie in Karlsruhe since 2003. As a team they have been honoured with an invitation by the Badisches Staatstheater Karsruhe to assume the artistic direction of the opera production Radamisto by Georg Friedrich Händel.
