Rita Hoofwijk's artistic practice is rooted in a sensitive interaction with the environments in which her work unfolds. Her approach leads to work that varies in form and scale—from audio and text to performance and spatial installations—but almost always involves the body and has a tranquil quality. Starting from the existing context of each location, she creates openings that bring the environment to life and recapture our attention.
