Colin Waeghe

Colin Waeghe lives and works in Brussels. He studied at Sint Lukas Brussels (experimental studio), RITCS Brussels (dramatic arts), POPOK Antwerp (scenography) and the Higher Institute for Fine Arts (HISK) in Ghent. “He is a socially engaged artist, has a very broad view on things and situations and wants to capture this view in his paintings and projects. He finds inspiration in his own experience and environment, but also in current events and the media. The images mix with memories, interpretations and observations from the past and present. But they are equally influenced by reading and study, by philosophy and art history. Colin Waeghe has developed a very personal signature and touch over the years. The images he creates are charged, full of energy and subdued tension.” He participated in several group exhibitions in Belgium and abroad such as Polyfonie (Watou, 2009), Thank You For Tomorrow (Zebrastraat, Ghent, 2010), Vertigo, Besuch aus Gent (Neues Kunstforum, Cologne, Germany 2012), Yoknapatawpha / Biennale of Painting (Museum of Deinze and the Leiestreek 2016), Wewantosee (21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan, 2016), Alive inside the Crystal Part 2 (Kunsthaus Graz, Austria, 2019), Salon des Artistes (Ronse, 2020) Les Fleurs du mal (Ballroom Projects, Antwerpen, 2024) en Hosting
