GRIP

GRIP is a choreographic platform founded in 2014 by choreographer and dancer Jan Martens and managing director Klaartje Oerlemans. In 2023, GRIP transitions into an organization with shared artistic leadership. Alongside Martens himself, current GRIP artists Cherish Menzo and Steven Michel, together with newcomer Femke Gyselinck, will shape GRIP 2.0. They do this in close dialogue with Klaartje Oerlemans and Rudi Meulemans, who, in his role as artistic coordinator, coordinates and facilitates dialogue among the four creators.
GRIP operates as a nomadic structure, without its own studio, utilizing existing infrastructure in the performing arts landscape through collaborations with theaters, co-producers, production houses, and residency venues. Its creations move to different spaces each time, interacting with diverse professional contexts.
GRIP is active in various countries. It is a non-profit organization based in Antwerp and a foundation based in Rotterdam. GRIP receives structural funding from the Flemish government and collaborates with numerous international co-producers and partners across Europe, North America, and Asia.
