Michiel Alberts

The work of Michiel Alberts could be described as 'Physical Drawings'. The artist relates through his physical presence to a given space or surface, leaving behind traces, resulting in different types of work. He uses the media painting, drawing, film, photography as well as live-performance. By the use of long duration and repetitive actions he relates to what Henry Bergson called ‘inner time’. The essence of his work does not lie in a conceptual approach or in communicating ideas, but rather in the experience of the process itself and refers to themes as Human Conditions, the State of the World, Space/Time, Cosmic order and Abstracions
